Rain Rain Go Away…

Nick and I found out as soon as we got here that this is Japan’s “rainy season”!!! Lucky us! (Not!) Lot’s of rain makes for very little site seeing! On top of the rain keeping Nick and I indoors, we have had to go to mandatory orientation classes on base, every day this week. Needless to say these last 3 days haven’t been too exciting. (Hence the lack of blogging)

Fortunately for us, we have had good friends and good food to keep us entertained in the evenings, on top of the continuing hunt for a house!

Dinner at the Gyozo house with some friends. Getting to experience the true Japanese way, sitting on the floor without our shoes on while we eat!

With the search for a house, means getting to wear more slippers too small for tall/big footed Americans!

We get a laugh out of the short doorways…yes Nick has to duck before entering EVERY room in Japanese style homes!

It is supposed to rain again tomorrow…we are crossing our fingers that it will let up long enough for us to visit a few places. Tomorrow is the “field trip day” of our orientation classes. We get to take the train into the city of our choice and explore! Nick and I have been planning our excursion since Monday and had our hearts set on going to Kamakura to see the famous Buddha and a few shrines! We might have to go with our back-up plan, but are still praying for no rain! Nonetheless, I am hoping to get some good photos from our trip!

Mr. Sun, sun, Mr. Golden Sun, please shine down on me!!!!

  1. I am still laughing at Nick in the slippies. That was a great pic. I can see you laughing. I am praying for the perfect place for you to live. Close to base but yet with full doorways. A house where a Japanese woman was married to a Navy guy Nick's size and the house was adapted but still Japanese.
